Built on a history of recognising excellence and achievement within the HVAC&R Industry, the AIRAH Awards honour those who have delivered significant contributions to our industry.
This year A.G. Coombs were recognised in the AIRAH Excellence in HVAC – Best Retrofit Project category for the 540 Wickham Street –Towards Net Zero – Decommissioning Cogeneration project in Brisbane.
This award recognises excellence in the retrofit, upgrade and delivery or maintenance of HVAC systems, and covers all aspects of project delivery. The award was announced at the AIRAH National Awards event in Sydney on 20 Nov 2025.
The Australian commercial building market is on a clear path towards electrification. To move towards Net Zero this iconic property in Brisbane needed to decommission its gas-fired cogeneration plant.
A.G. Coombs Group provided the technical design, installation and maintenance expertise to deliver this complex energy systems transition task. This challenging project was carried out with minimal disruption to the large, occupied facility and delivered a significant carbon emissions reduction and improved energy efficiency whilst modernising the mechanical and electrical assets and enhancing the electrical safety of its operations and maintenance.
