A.G. Coombs ‘All In’ for National Reconciliation Week 2026

June 4, 2026

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) provides an important opportunity to reflect on our shared histories and cultures, and to consider how we can collectively contribute to reconciliation in Australia.

At A.G. Coombs, reconciliation is embedded in how we work with our people, partners and communities. Guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) – Innovate, we are committed to strengthening respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and creating meaningful opportunities for learning, engagement and collaboration across our business.

Throughout National Reconciliation Week 2026, A.G. Coombs proudly hosted and participated in a series of activities across Australia, bringing together employees, clients and community partners to reflect, connect and continue the reconciliation journey together.

Creating Space for Learning and Connection

Across the week, A.G. Coombs sites hosted collective gatherings, including morning teas and coffee cart activations supported by Indigenous social enterprise Game Time Coffee. These moments provided welcoming and informal settings for teams to come together, supported by Acknowledgement and Welcome to Country ceremonies and cultural practices.

In parallel, education sessions and an organisation‑wide National Reconciliation Week webinar enabled broader participation and access to learning, ensuring employees across the business could engage regardless of location.

Partnerships That Amplify Impact

Collaboration remained a strong focus throughout National Reconciliation Week, aligning with this year’s theme, ‘All In’. Working closely with like‑minded organisations, including Cromwell Property Group, A.G. Coombs co‑hosted a reflection morning tea that reinforced shared commitments to reconciliation. Events like these created space for conversation, learning and connection, while recognising the important role organisations play when working together to drive lasting social impact.

Conversations That Matter

A highlight of the week was a National Reconciliation Week event hosted by A.G. Coombs at the Museum of Contemporary Art of where A.G. Coombs proudly maintains, bringing together employees and selected clients for meaningful conversation and reflection.

The program commenced with a Welcome to Country, followed by a panel discussion focused on reconciliation, leadership and collaboration. The panel was facilitated by Aaron Clark, A.G. Coombs Social Procurement, Inclusion & Engagement Leader, and featured Mark Champley (University of New South Wales), Glenn Johnston (Supply Nation) Sam Bertoni, A.G. Coombs Mechanical Plumber Apprentice, and Shane Edwards, A.G. Coombs Cultural Ambassador, who shared perspectives on community connection, accountability and the role organisations play in advancing reconciliation.

A.G. Coombs Managing Director, Russell Telford also addressed attendees, reflecting on A.G. Coombs Reconciliation Action Plan and reinforcing the importance of sustained, values‑led commitment.

To continue our education, participants were invited to take part in the Tribal Warrior Cultural Cruise Experience, deepening cultural understanding through connection on Sydney Harbour.

Continuing the Conversation in Canberra

The reconciliation dialogue continued in the Australian Capital Territory with a National Reconciliation Week event hosted at the National Museum of Australia, which Integrated Technical Management, an A.G. Coombs Group Company proudly maintains. The event bought together A.G. Coombs personnel and clients to deepen conversations on Reconciliation and the impacts we can make moving forward as a collective.

During the event, Russell Telford spoke about the A.G. Coombs Reconciliation Action Plan and the organisation’s ongoing capability partnership with Murrungar. Murrungar sources and channels building services procurement through an Indigenous-owned supply chain, turning everyday business transactions into meaningful social and economic outcomes.

Acknowledging milestones that shape our collective future

Did you know National Reconciliation Week commemorates two significant milestones – the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.

  • 27 May marks the anniversary of Australia’s most successful referendum and a defining event in our nation’s history. The 1967 referendum which saw over 90% of Australians vote to give the Commonwealth the power to make laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and recognise them in the national census.
  • 3 June commemorates the 1992 High Court of Australia landmark Mabo decision which legally recognised that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have a special relationship to the land —
a relationship that existed prior to colonisation and still exists today.
This recognition paved the way for Native Title land rights.

Looking Ahead

Events like National Reconciliation Week reinforce the importance of listening, learning and working together. Through ongoing partnerships with Indigenous communities, clients and suppliers, A.G. Coombs remains committed to embedding reconciliation into everyday practice and creating positive, lasting impact, now and into the future.
