Monash Children's Hospital

Due to open in early 2017, the new Monash Children’s Hospital will be co-located next to the Monash Medical Centre, and will offer 96 In-patient acute beds, 10 Paediatric Intensive care beds, 64 Monash Newborn cots and many other services.

Appointed by the client’s Managing Contractor, Lendlease Building, A.G. Coombs is delivering building services on the project, including HVAC and mechanical services (mechanical, electrical and Building Management and Controls System services), and specialist medical systems including pneumatic tube and medical gasses.

The team has been responsible for design input during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) design stage, and construction, with A.G. Coombs’ prefabrication methodologies used for the installation of eight vertical services risers (16 skids), and Trimble positioning technology used for the floor set-outs. A.G. Coombs is also upgrading the medical gas infrastructure, so that the new hospital’s system can be linked to the existing Monash Medical Centre building.

Commissioning is currently underway and, following Practical Completion in October 2016, A.G. Coombs will deliver maintenance services across the 12-month Defects Liability Period.
