Members of the industry gathered to honour distinguished industry service and its apprentices, trainees and young achievers at the 2021 Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association Victorian Excellence Dinner on Friday the 3rd of December 2021.
The event also commemorated AMCA’s 60 years, and its transformation to a national body in 2021. A.G. Coombs Group Engineering Manager Warwick Stannus was recognised with a Distinguished Service Award and Service Technician Travis Gunn was recognised with the National Young Achiever Award. Former Victorian Skills Commissioner Neil Coulson and Alex Hall Managing Director of AC Hall Air Conditioning were also recognised with Distinguished Service Awards.
A.G. Coombs congratulates the finalists and winners in all AMCA Award categories. The qualities displayed by these young people assure them of a great future in our industry.
Warwick Stannus – Distinguished Service Award
In 2009, Warwick Stannus was instrumental in advancing industry discussions on the future of Building Information Modelling including arranging various stakeholder meetings with clients, design consultants, D&C contractors, specialist sub-contractors as well as a broad range of product and equipment suppliers.
In June 2010, Warwick was the principal author of an AMCA discussion paper, titled Building Information Modelling Strategy and Industry Roadmap.
This paper initially led to AMCA taking a leadership role in the establishment of the Construction Innovation Forum event in 2010, as well as the BIM-MEPAus initiative.
To support and oversee the initiative, AMCA Australia established a dedicated Project Board with Warwick taking the honoring position on the Project Board as the Technical Director for the BIM-MEPAus initiative.
For over a decade, Warwick has worked timelessly in the role providing leadership over development of the industry base technical BIM-MEPAus standards, specifications and workflows that have underpinned the initiative in assisting owners, designers, contractors and suppliers to implement and leverage BIM and digital strategies that supports innovation and best in class delivery.
Warwick has contributed thousands of hours of voluntary time to the initiative on behalf of AMCA and its mentors and is truly a worthy recipient of this award.
Travis Gunn – National Young Achiever Award.
Travis commenced his HVAC and Refrigeration apprenticeship with A.G. Coombs Servicing midway through 2011. Throughout his apprenticeship Travis focused on taking every opportunity to get the most of his apprenticeship and looked for ways to strengthen his trade school learning with field-based experience.
Successfully completing his apprenticeship in June of 2015, Travis quickly built a reputation for himself as a HVAC Service Technician delivering high levels of service excellence and customer satisfaction.
Travis moved into installations, quoting, managing and delivering small projects up to $1m in the HVAC space. Stepping into the role of Technical Support – Projects, he has taken project delivery in the field to the next level for A.G. Coombs Servicing, and has built a strong team.
Travis plays a key part in A.G. Coombs facilities support for the Richmond Football Club and their Korin Gamadji Institute.
Continually driven to go beyond, whether that be in his service and project delivery or with his customers Travis’ commitment to the task at hand leaves you knowing that not only will the job be delivered successfully; it will be delivered to the highest standards with a happy customer.
