The Minister for Industry & Employment the Hon. Ben Carroll, the State Member for Bentleigh, the Hon. Nick Staikos and A.G. Coombs Managing Director Russell Telford with A.G. Coombs apprentices and trainees.
The visit involved meeting some of A.G. Coombs’ very talented apprentices, trainees and graduate engineers. The A.G. Coombs Apprenticeship Program is a structured and comprehensive program for training in the areas of mechanical plumbing, refrigeration, sprinkler fitting, electrical and drafting. A.G. Coombs apprentices have recently applied their skills on some of Victoria’s largest projects such as the Rod Laver Arena & Melbourne Park Redevelopments and the new Bendigo & Monash Children’s Hospitals
A.G. Coombs is also investing in emerging design and construction technologies, including a development that uses construction and IT technologies to develop transfer valuable technical information from digital construction models to building owners and operators. The Virtual Building Quality System project was helped by the Government’s Future Industries Sector Growth Program and the visit also involved a demonstration of virtual reality technology that A.G. Coombs is using to help improve digital design and construction practices.
A.G. Coombs are committed to providing a leading apprenticeship program that is built on the philosophy of structured learning, providing support, direction, guidance and mentorship to each apprentice.
‘Minister for Industry & Employment’ the Hon. Ben Carroll, said, “We’re giving apprentices right across Victoria the chance to start their careers on some of the state’s biggest projects – setting them up for the future.”
