In just 11 weeks, A.G. Coombs installed and integrated all supplementary mechanical systems across 10 consecutive floors of the existing government office building.
The fit-out incorporated new mechanical services plant and equipment, including new rooftop chillers that had to be installed and integrated with the building’s existing systems. Importantly, the building had to achieve Defence Certification, with it being a top security Australian Government facility.
This subsequently meant that the new systems had to comply with strict security standards. For example, security mesh had to be fitted into the grills where ductwork passes through secure walls. All works had to be fully documented, with random security checks frequently taking place. And all personnel, including A.G. Coombs subcontractors, had to undertake a full police check before commencing work on-site.
Installation of the chillers saw the A.G. Coombs team working on other non-client floors and in very tight ceiling spaces. The process also involved the full closure of a major Brisbane CBD road whilst the chillers were being craned onto the building’s nineteenth floor. All loading was undertaken outside of normal office hours to minimise disruption and maximise security.
