Running from the 7th to the 14th July, NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself.
This year’s theme for NAIDOC week is ‘Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s work together’. Voice. Treaty. Truth. were three key elements to the reforms set out in the Uluru Statement from the Heart. These reforms represent the unified position of First Nations Australians. Find out more about this theme.
Join with A.G. Coombs Group to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2019, and to work together for a reconciled, just and equitable Australia.
