Assistant Treasurer Gordon Rich-Phillips has congratulated Victorian workplaces after Victoria was once again identified as the safest state in Australia in which to work. Mr Rich-Phillips said the latest comparison of every state’s health and safety schemes by federal agency Safe Work Australia (SWA) identified Victoria as the state with the lowest rate of workplace injuries.

Mr Rich-Phillips made the announcement during a visit to A.G. Coombs where he congratulated the organisation for its recent Victorian WorkCover Authority Health and Safety Award and outstanding commitment to workplace safety.
A.G. Coombs innovative prefabricated services riser approach was recognised with the “Best Solution to a Specific Workplace Health and Safety Issue” Award at the 2014 Victorian WorkCover Awards.
VWA Chief Executive, Denise Cosgrove, who toured A.G. Coombs’ operations with Mr Rich-Phillips, said the company had an innovative approach to health and safety. And Member for Bentleigh, Elizabeth Miller, who also attended the event, said A.G. Coombs has shown outstanding leadership in workplace safety.
A.G. Coombs Group Pty Ltd Managing Director, Russell Telford, said proactively approaching health and safety in the workplace was a culture engrained across the entire organisation and that, “We are hopeful this award win will encourage further innovation in the building services industry to improve safety and other outcomes.”
