A.G. Coombs has been selected as a finalist in the 2019 SafeWork NSW Awards for its approach to eliminating exposure to silica dust in the installation of building services.
Exposure to silica dust and other risks from overhead drilling into the underside of concrete slabs to install building services fixings is a significant Work Health and Safety concern in the building construction industry.
A.G. Coombs pioneering use of digitally located Cast-In Anchors for pre-poured concrete decks significantly reduces the extent of overhead and at height work carried out during typical services installation. This eliminates potential exposure to silica dust, manual handling, working at height and debris in eye injuries that can occur during drilling into the underside of concrete slabs.
The use of Cast-In-Anchors on a new 20-level building construction for services fixing may eliminate the need to overhead drill in excess of 10,000 holes and thereby remove the potential risks associated with that significant extent of work.
The SafeWork NSW Awards recognise businesses and workers with the highest standards of workplace health and safety and return to work outcomes in NSW. It’s a robust judging process and it is an exceptional achievement to be selected as a finalist in these prestigious awards.
Winners and finalists were announced at the annual SafeWork NSW Awards event Thursday 31 October 2019 at the Australian National Maritime Museum, 2 Murray Street, Darling Harbour, Sydney.
