In response to the current COVID-19 situation the Facility Management Association is implementing a series of virtual live-streaming events including Virtual Lunchbox Conversations (VLC).
Held, Thursday 23 April 12:15pm – 1:15pm
With COVID-19 seeing many buildings with reduced or no occupancy, there is interest in how to reduce operating costs. It is not as simple as flicking a switch and locking the door. Buildings often feature systems that require specialist maintenance.
This VLC will discuss what Facility Managers need to do in order to maintain a building experiencing minimal use. Panelists include Chris Axton, Senior Facilities Manager – Museums Victoria and David Swinson, Director – BDC Building Design Compliance. The panel will provide guidance on minimum requirements to ensure a building remains compliant through times with low or no occupancy and is able to be open for business when the time is appropriate.

- Can the HVAC systems run at reduced levels or be shut down for an extended period to save running costs?
- Can Mechanical, Fire Services and Electrical maintenance be reduced or stopped?
