July 20, 2026

Butler Electrical has been appointed to deliver electrical, data and communications, solar and electric vehicle charging services for the new Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Fraser Rise — a transformative community project in the City of Melton, one of Australia’s fastest growing regions.

The state‑of‑the‑art facility will become a major destination for health, wellbeing and recreation, providing vital infrastructure to support the needs of a rapidly expanding community. Designed with sustainability at its core, the Centre is targeting a 5 Star Green Star certification, reinforcing a commitment to long‑term environmental performance and community benefit.

Partnering with Kane Constructions, Butler Electrical brings deep experience in the delivery of complex aquatic, sports and leisure facilities, supporting projects that balance high performance, sustainability and user experience.

A new benchmark for community infrastructure

Once complete, the Aquatic and Leisure Centre will offer a diverse range of facilities designed to support inclusive, accessible and active lifestyles, including:

  • Indoor pools and splash areas
  • An outdoor waterslide and interactive water play zone
  • Spa and sauna facilities
  • A 24‑hour access gym and fitness studio
  • Learn to swim pools
  • A destination café
  • Spaces for allied health service providers
  • Public electric vehicle charging facilities
  • Multifunctional community spaces for leisure, health, events and gatherings, including a rooftop garden.

Environmental sustainability principles are embedded throughout the design, ensuring the Centre supports both community wellbeing and responsible resource use for generations to come.

Specialist electrical and communications services

Butler Electrical will design, supply, install and commission the complete electrical services package at the aquatic and leisure centre, spanning light and power, specialist systems and advanced communications infrastructure.

The scope of works includes the design finalisation, supply, installation and commissioning of:

  • High capacity electrical infrastructure, including multiple power supply pathways, main and distribution switchboards and site wide reticulation to support a large, energy intensive facility
  • Full internal and external LED lighting systems, incorporating intelligent lighting controls to enhance user experience, operational efficiency and long term flexibility
  • Specialist communications and IT services, including structured data cabling, fibre optic networks, communications rooms and critical power protection systems
  • Smart energy solutions, such as rooftop solar generation, integrated energy metering and electric vehicle charging infrastructure to support the Centre’s sustainability objectives
  • Specialist systems, including master antenna television distribution and resilient power systems for critical facilities.

Together, these services will underpin a safe, reliable and future ready facility designed to meet the evolving needs of Melton City Councill, operators and the community.

Coordinated delivery through BIM

Butler Electrical has completed detailed Building Information Modelling (BIM) using Revit and is working closely with Kane Constructions and other trades to coordinate services across the project.

This collaborative approach ensures services are fully integrated within defined pathways and plant locations, improving quality, safety and build efficiency while delivering a more cost‑effective outcome for the builder and Council.

Delivering long‑term community value

For Butler Electrical, the appointment reflects a shared ambition to deliver smart, future‑focused infrastructure that responds to the evolving needs of councils, developers and communities.

“We’re excited to contribute to a project that will have such a positive impact on the local community,” said Darren Blake, Business Development Manager – Electrical Services at Butler Electrical. “Our team is passionate about delivering smart, sustainable solutions that support long‑term value for councils, developers, and the people they serve.”

This project builds on Butler Electrical’s strong track record in the delivery of award‑winning aquatic and leisure developments, underpinned by technical capability, collaboration and a commitment to quality outcomes.

According to Melton City Council, the Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Fraser Rise will deliver a major new community facility designed to support health, wellbeing and active lifestyles for current and future residents in Melbourne’s growing western corridor.

As construction progresses, Butler Electrical looks forward to playing its part in delivering a facility that sets a new benchmark for community‑focused design and performance.

Melton City Council is funding the multi-million-dollar project, supported by a $15 million contribution from the Australian Government through its Thriving Suburbs Program, with the facility expected to open in 2028.
