World Refrigeration Day 2026 will focus on the essential role of cooling and sustainable heating through this year’s global theme — Cool Intelligence.
Celebrated annually on 26 June, the initiative recognises the contribution of refrigeration and air conditioning systems to modern life — from protecting food and medicines to supporting healthcare, digital infrastructure and high-performing built environments.
A focus on intelligent outcomes
The 2026 theme highlights that effective systems rely on more than technology alone. Outcomes are shaped by informed decisions across design, installation, operation and maintenance.
Cool Intelligence reflects:
- Selecting the right system for each application
- Prioritising efficiency and long-term performance
- Responding to climate, energy constraints and user needs
- Applying practical expertise alongside digital capability.
As digital tools and artificial intelligence continue to evolve, the emphasis remains on human judgement — enabling better performance and more reliable outcomes.
Delivering impact where it matters
Cooling and sustainable heating systems underpin the performance and resilience of buildings and infrastructure. Their impact extends across:
- Healthcare and life sciences — Safeguarding medicines and critical environments
- Food supply chains — Reducing waste and improving reliability
- Commercial buildings — Supporting comfort, productivity and wellbeing
- Data centres and digital infrastructure — Maintaining operational continuity.
With global demand continuing to grow, the focus is on delivering systems that are efficient, adaptable and designed for long-term value.
World Refrigeration Day provides an opportunity to recognise the systems and people that support everyday life.
