The Market Mover

After a decade of planning, Melbourne’s largest fruit, vegetable and flower market relocated to a new purpose-built facility in Epping, Victoria.

At the core of its operation is one of the largest central refrigeration systems of its kind.

A.G. Coombs was responsible for the installation of the new Ammonia and Propylene Glycol refrigeration system within both of the market’s major warehouse buildings; one of the largest installations of its kind in Victoria. The team worked in conjunction with specialist refrigeration subcontractor Oomiak Refrigeration to design, install and undertake commissioning of this largescale plant.

This month’s edition of HVAC&R Nation takes you behind the scenes at the Melbourne Market, further investigating the 100,000 square metre site’s centralised refrigeration system and energy and plant efficiency.
