CSL Behring Site Visit - 22nd November 2017

November 10, 2017

Join A.G. Coombs along with the AIRAH Victorian division committee for a tour of CSL’s new albumin manufacturing facility in Broadmeadows on Wednesday the 22nd November 2017.

The facility will be used to manufacture the blood plasma product albumin, used to restore blood plasma after major surgery, trauma or serious infections and burns.

This recently constructed facility is now in the final stages of commissioning. The tour will provide an opportunity to view the interfaces between mechanical plant and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, with all systems meeting stringent requirements in order to manufacture pharmaceutical products.

It includes new chilled water plant with 45,000L of onsite storage, low-temperature glycol plant operating at -8°, steam plant and Form 4 switchboards, with fully withdrawable motor control centres. The airside plant incorporates carefully specified AHUs serving GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) rated areas. To maintain cleanliness, the mechanical services are designed to operate to strict room-pressure regimes.

With CSL engineers well into qualification activities, this is a rare opportunity to visit a world-class pharmaceutical manufacturing facility before it enters full manufacturing.
