This year A.G. Coombs with LCI Consultants are finalists in the 2023 AIRAH Awards for Excellence in Innovation and for Excellence in Sustainability for their work at the state-of-the-art Allianz Sydney Stadium.

The new Allianz Stadium is located in Sydney’s Moore Park and hosted its first event in September 2022.

Built on the site of the old Sydney Football Stadium the 42,500-capacity world class stadium builds on the legacy of the Sydney Sports Ground (1899) and the original Sydney Football Stadium, opened as a Bicentennial Project in 1988.

The highly collaborative A.G. Coombs and LCI team delivered an innovative high-performance mechanical and HVAC system to meet rigorous functionality requirements while targeting ambitious sustainability targets.

The project is unique in many aspects and the particular focus on sustainability and the achievements made in this area for a sporting and entertainment precinct are world class.

The AIRAH Excellence in Innovation Award recognises significant Australian improvements in the areas of HVAC&R achieved through innovation, including new or significantly improved systems or plant and equipment or processes.

The AIRAH Excellence in Sustainability Award recognises Australian initiatives that have made clear improvements in the sustainability of the HVAC&R industry. The initiatives may be improvements to existing air conditioning or refrigeration systems or the development of new improvements, or in the industry’s delivery of services.

The awards will be announced at the AIRAH Awards Gala, in Sydney
on 30 Nov 2023.
