2025 International Day of Women and Girls in Science

February 4, 2025

Did you know?… The United Nations General Assembly declared 11 Feb as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS).

Now in its 10th year, IDWGS celebrates the remarkable contributions of women in science while raising awareness that science and gender equality must advance hand-in-hand to address the world’s major challenges.

This year the International Day of Women and Girls in Science celebrations focus on Unpacking STEM Careers: Her Voice in Science, with a hybrid event hosted by UNESCO on 11 Feb.

With a sizeable disparity between male and female participation rates in the Buildings Services industry, we recognise the role A.G. Coombs must play in trying to change the status quo.

It is our mission to lead by example and establish real and tangible ways to close this gap… For example, congratulations to Rebecca Andrews (Mechanical Engineer), Jenna Commazzetto (Virtual Design & Construction), Elaine Coventry (Electrical Engineer) and Helena Ly-Lu (Fire Engineer) on the first of many interactive A.G. Coombs careers-related school incursions they will make in 2025 inspiring Year 9 and 10 students about Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM), particularly young girls.
