FMA Virtual Lunchbox Conversation – Hygiene Controls in Buildings during COVID-19

April 3, 2020

In response to the current COVID-19 situation the Facility Management Association is implementing a series of virtual live-streaming events including Virtual Lunchbox Conversations (VLC).

The first VLC will focus on the far-reaching effects that COVID-19 is having on our facilities and their occupants and provide insights into how leading facilities managers and service providers are responding.

A panel of industry specialists will share experiences and information regarding the precautions needed to minimise the spread of this virus and how to ensure your building is as safe and hygienic as possible for those who live or work there.

Joining the panel is Bryon Price, A.G. Coombs Strategic Development Director to address the role that HVAC may play in the transmission of COVID-19, and provide practical HVAC operational measures that can be considered along with possible design changes to reduce the likelihood of the virus spreading.

Topics he will address include:

How important is preventative maintenance as prescribed by the recognised standards and adhering to good maintenance procedures?

What can be done with HVAC systems to lessen the possibility of viral transmission?

What is involved in cleaning or disinfecting a HVAC system?

If buildings are being vacated what is involved in shutting down and then starting up HVAC systems?
