NAB continues its support of the Flying Doctor Outback Trek

13th Jun 2011

For the eleventh consecutive year, NAB has participated in the Flying Doctor Outback Trek.

The event seeks to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), a charitable organisation that provides an extensive range of healthcare services to remote and rural cities, towns and homesteads across more than seven million square kilometres of Outback Australia. The service also sees over 4,500 patients being rescued in remote areas each year.

The Flying Doctor Outback Trek has become the most important event in the Flying Doctor’s annual fundraising calendar. Every year, a series of pre-1971 cars cross the Outback over a period of one week, helping to raise funds that assist the RFDS with the repair, maintenance and replacement of its 44-strong aircraft fleet.

This year’s event took place on 5-11 June. NAB’s vehicle fleet consisted of five cars - two sponsored, two associated and one support vehicle. Commencing in Dubbo, the team travelled across the Northern Territory, through Broken Hill and Birdsville, before ending up at Uluru (Ayers Rock) seven days later.

Each year, the event raises more than $1 million for the RFDS.

A.G. Coombs was proud to be a sponsor of NAB’s involvement in this worthwhile fundraiser.
