Reducing the Pain of False Alarms

5th Nov 2009

Today Walker Fire Protection Pty Ltd released a new Advisory Note to clients relating to false alarms and automatic fire protection systems.

The costs associated with false (unwanted or nuisance) alarm callouts continue to be considerable not only in terms of substantial fire service charges but also in the disruption to business activities and additional maintenance work.

It is estimated that around 30 – 50% of all brigade “turnouts” are to monitored fire protection systems and that well over 90% of these turnouts are classified as False Alarms.  The CFA alone recorded over 12,800 false alarm calls in the 2007-08 financial year.

Walker Fire Protection continues to work with its customers to help reduce the risk of false alarms through innovative fire design and management advice as well as effective, regular servicing and maintenance.  This ongoing commitment is reflected in today’s release of the new Advisory Note, False Alarms and Automatic Fire Protection Systems downloadable below.
